About
If you find yourself wandering the vibrant streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, there's a culinary gem that should absolutely be on your radar: Trolley Barn Fermentory & Food Hall. Nestled at 2104 South Blvd, this bustling eatery has carved out a niche for itself, seamlessly blending craft dining with a laid-back atmosphere that pays homage to its industrial roots.
From the moment you step inside, you feel the energy buzzing around you. The eclectic decor, complemented by an outdoor space perfect for soaking in the sunshine or enjoying the evening breeze, sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. While the location might be described as “characterful,” this should only serve to enhance the authenticity of your visit. Here, you're not just a customer—you’re part of a community that celebrates great food and drink.
What truly sets Trolley Barn apart is its menu. For those who savor bold flavors, you'll want to try their revered burgers. Customer Sergio Z captures the essence perfectly, calling their offerings “magnificent” and boasting about the sheer satisfaction derived from biting into a “beefy, greasy, glorious monument” of a patty. This is not your average burger; it embodies a spirit of unapologetic indulgence that food lovers dream of. Each bite is a reminder that real food connects us to a more primal joy.
Of course, burgers are just the tip of the iceberg. The feedback from diners—like Richard Mancine, who raved about the house-smoked pastrami in his Reuben—speaks to the commitment to high-quality ingredients and unique dishes. The beer selection here is notably vast, making it the perfect spot for those who appreciate a finely curated pint to accompany their meal. However, options seem to vary, and those seeking cider or non-beer choices might find themselves wishing for more variety.
Chef-driven creativity shines through Trolley Barn's seasonal menu rotation, suggested by many patrons who frequent this space. Seasoned diner Alicia Romero appreciates how every visit brings something new to explore, and that level of anticipation is part of what keeps locals and visitors alike coming back. But perhaps the most delightful surprise is that the cocktails here never miss a beat; they're expertly crafted and always hit the mark, elevating your dining experience to new heights.
Nevertheless, some diners express a desire for Trolley Barn to recapture past menu magic and bring in more entertainment options to round out their visits. Every positive aspect of the experience is touched with a hint of constructive note—rumbling conversations and a lack of live music have been pointed out as notable gaps in what could otherwise be a spectacular experience.
All in all, Trolley Barn Fermentory & Food Hall invites you to savor every moment of your culinary journey. The blend of hearty dishes, an extensive drink selection, and an ambiance pulsing with community spirit creates a dining experience that's hard to forget. Whether you're a local or just visiting, make sure you stop by and indulge in the culinary adventure.\
“ Right, so, Trolley Barn. Five stars. Naturally. Now, I've toured the world, sampled the finest bovine offerings from the Pampas to the Scottish Highlands, and I can confidently say this burger... this thing... was magnificent. It was a beefy, greasy, glorious monument to the art of the patty. A proper, honest burger, not some poncey, avocado-smothered, micro-herb-sprinkled nonsense. This was a burger that knew its purpose: to be delicious, and to fill a man's belly with the kind of satisfaction that can only be achieved by consuming something that would probably fail a health inspection in most civilized countries. The location, shall we say, "lends character." You're practically eating it on the tarmac of a forgotten industrial estate. And frankly, that just makes it better. It's the culinary equivalent of a V12 engine: loud, unapologetic, and utterly brilliant. ”
“ Nice place located by the tracks. We like the food there and always enjoy the beer. No great options and no cider for example for non-beer drinkers in our party. Food is very good like all their restaurants, they do have a great executive chef that works at or owned very nice high end restaurants. But they used to have a better menu and missed the the items we actually went there for on our last visit. It’s become more generic or like that of their Legion Brewery menu. We much preferred the old menu and we go to legion all the time so this allowed us to try different things. But the food is very good. The place inside is pretty cool but very loud too. Nice outdoor space. Wish it had live music. It lacks some entertainment. Overall it’s good but the current menu and lack of entertainment keeps it from 5 stars. ”
“ Went here after Front Porch Sunday. The service was great. The Ruben was made with house smoke pastrami. Very good. Beer selection is huge. Fun place. I will be back ”
“ Chose this spot based a recommendation from @wheretoeatclt Great menu that changes seasonally. Nice beer & cocktail selection. Indoor & outdoor space. Definitely recommend! ”
“ I’ve been coming here since they opened, and the food here is great. They do change up the menu from time to time, and each item, I would say is great. The cocktails always hit every time I go it’s so good. ”
“ Stephanie with Offline - we stumbled on this place by accident after the original spot we went to closed early. it was for the better because the food was amazing and we probably wouldn’t have chosen to come here. the service was great, the food, chill vibes and atmosphere. the menu had so many delicious options to choose from. I will definitely return to be able to explore more options. They have a keto friendly bread option for those who want to do low carb high protein, I was impressed. They also have gluten free options. Vinny was an awesome server that thoroughly explained the options, and made us want to buy everything on the menu. His suggestions were top tier which is one of the reasons we will return. ”
“ We had already gone to the Trolley barn for brunch and dinner a few times before and enjoyed the food. So we had decided to hold our wedding reception (luncheon) here over the memorial weekend. The event organizer, Gabby B. was wonderful to work with. We were able to see the different spaces along with receiving information pretty quickly in the follow-up communication. We decided on the Brewer's Lounge since our party was only 30-40 people. And it allowed to have the tanks be in some of the cool background shots. It was next to the large garage doors and it can be opened up to have a breeze for the great weather we had. The guest portal to organize and communicate is pretty straightforward and easy to use - allowing us to see menus upload any documents needed etc. We decided on the "Platters" food package since the choices was nicely varied and we were able to have a good selection for everyone to eat. The cocktail drinks at the bar were very enjoyable from all the guests feedback and service was great! It was a great wedding reception for a small party and would encourage anyone to hold their event there. For larger parties, please consider the mezzanine which will also be more private. Thank you Trolley Barn team for organizing everything for our special day! ”
“ Aleisha with Offline - This spot was PHENOMENAL! I love getting dishes that aren’t common and have a twist. I had the brisket fried rice and tacos, everything was a 12/10. My server was awesome as well. I loved that there was ample parking nearby. Check them out. ”
